Ukrainian swimmer Andrii Hovorov has set a new record at the French Open and won gold.

According to the press service of the National Olympic Committee, the 24-year-old native of Sevastopol Andrii Hovorov swam a distance of 50 meters in the butterfly stroke in 22.69 seconds. Thus, the young Ukrainian set a new record of the competition.

The athlete informed about his successful results in Instagram. 'I got Gold for the 50 meter of the butterfly stroke at the French Open today! Another record of Ukraine and the competitions, and the best result in the world that was made in textile shorts!!' the athlete writes. He also mentioned that he’s going to take part in the competition of front crawl for a distance of 50 meters on July 3.

Earlier, Andrii Hovorov was recognized as champion in 50-meter butterfly. Hovorov set a record at the final stage of the prestigious Mare Nostrum that was held in Barcelona, Spain.
