It’ll work in Ukraine until July, 11.
According to the press service of the government, the delegation of the US Customs and Border Service has started its work in Ukraine. It’s to assess the national customs’ reforms.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman met the delegation on Wednesday.
The mission is to work until July, 11. It’ll obtain the results, which are to be the basis for a plan of reforms. Groysman stressed that the reform in the sphere of customs is one of the priorities in the Cabinet’s activities.
According to him, the development of the reform needs to pay first attention to several spheres, in particular to struggle against smuggling, inconsistencies in the legislation, which give rise to another area of smuggling - the transportation of small quantities of goods without customs clearing. Moreover, Groysman mentioned the need for technical modernization of border crossing points, reset of the customs service personnel and increase of their responsibility.
The PM noted that the government and the State Fiscal Service is to help the American mission in Ukraine as much as possible.
The US is going to provide Ukraine with $ 220 mln. to support its economic, political and energetic reforms. The funds will be used to speed up the implementation of the customs reform and to fight against corruption. In addition, the money will be spent on decentralization and expansion of support for energetic security.
