Eurovision-2017: Ukrainian cities start active struggle for right to host Eurovision Song Contest

As it turned out, a lot of Ukrainian cities are eager to host the most expected European contest.

Official preparations for the Eurovision-2017 have been started. The Ministry of Culture has announced a contest, where several cities are to compete for the right to host the most popular musical event of the year.

Thus, the desire to host the forthcoming Eurovision was expressed 9 cities at once: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Lviv, Dnipro, Odessa, Vinnitsa, Cherkasy, Kherson and Uzhgorod.

The competition consists of four stages: filing electronic application with the signature of the mayor, the analysis of applications with respect to the financial capacity of this or that city, analysis of applications and announcement of finalists by the Organizing Committee on preparation and holding of the Eurovision. The final stage is an on-site inspection of the finalists to check their infrastructure and to carry out the general check.

The winner in the battle for the right to host the main song contest will be announced on August, 1.

Ukraine has already received a list of all the necessary requirements to hold the Eurovision - 2017. The list of requirements takes 56 pages.

'In particular, the city should have an arena with the capacity of not less than 7000 spectators, hotels of different price categories with convenient location in relation to the arena and the city center. It is extremely important to have a developed and convenient transport infrastructure. Furthermore, we must understand the need to provide the safety of the participants and guests of the Eurovision,' the head of the Ministry of Culture Yevhen Nyshchuk said.
