The president of the European Parliament Martin Schulz mentioned the need to reach clear agreements on Britain’s withdrawal from the EU as quickly as possible.
He wrote about this in Twitter commenting on the results of the British referendum.
'For 40 years, the relationship between the EU and the UK were ambiguous. Now it’s clear. Will of voters must be respected. Now need speedy & clear exit negotiation,' he wrote.
Earlier, the European Council’s President Donald Tusk said that the European Union was ready for the withdrawal of the UK from the bloc and there is to be no legal vacuum in the EU.
51.9% of the British voted for Brexit, while 48.1% are eager to stay in the EU.
