Security situation in Donbas is dramatically worsening. Russia-led terrorist forces continue to blatantly violate ceasefire and heavy weapons withdrawal commitments under the Minsk agreements. They are widely using heavy weapons, mostly mortars and high caliber artillery. As a result 7 Ukrainian soldiers were killed and 18 were wounded between 16 and 21 June.
'On 22 June 2016, 1 Ukrainian soldier was killed and 11 were wounded; over 300 mortar shells and more than 160 projectiles were fired at Ukrainian positions. Current shelling intensity is similar to an active fighting phase of August 2015.
On 16 June 2016, the OSCE SMM reported that its mini-UAV again had spotted an advanced jamming communication system 'R-330ZH Zhitel' in the vicinity of the occupied Donetsk.
On 22 June 2016, OSCE SMM monitors were shelled with mortars by pro-Russian militants in Donetsk region. The fire came from 82mm caliber mortars, which had to be withdrawn under the Minsk Agreements. On 22 June 2016, the Security Service of Ukraine announced that it had notified a Russian citizen, Chief of Staff of the Russian Representation in the JCCC, colonel V.Cheban about his compulsory return to Russia and ban of his entry to Ukraine for 5 years. The Security Service of Ukraine has a documentary evidence that colonel V.Cheban handed over to terrorists of the so-called 'DPR', among others, monthly schedule and routes of flights of the SMM UAVs.
Russia keeps up flooding Donbas with its regular troops and sophisticated weapons. On 22 June 2016, 2 self-propelled howitzers, 6 infantry fighting vehicle, 6 howitzers and 10 trucks were brought to the town of Chervonopartyzansk in Luhansk region from the Russian territory.
Moreover, on 23 June 2016, a 53rd illegal so-called 'humanitarian convoy' from the Russian Federation crossed the Ukrainian state border violating international and Ukrainian legislation. Ukrainian officials only observed the convoy movement and were not allowed to perform any control or monitoring.
Ukraine reiterates that full implementation of the security provisions of the Minsk agreements by Russia and its puppets is the only way to create a solid security ground, required for progress on other aspects of the Minsk Agreements.'
