President of Ukraine orders to celebrate Christianization of Kievan Rus' on July 28

The country is preparing for a large-scale celebration of the Christianization of Kievan Rus-Ukraine. They are going to hold different solemn programs in all the regions and cities. St. Sophia’s Cathedral and St. George's Cathedral will be restored on the occasion of the holiday.

The presidential press-service reported on the presidential decree 'On the celebration of the Christianization of Kievan Rus-Ukraine in 2016.' The decree prescribes organization and holding of large-scale events on the occasion of the adoption of Christianity by Ukrainians.

The main celebrations of the country will be held on July 28 at the state level. The president ordered to create a committee and develop a plan of actions.

Moreover, the government is going to restore St. Sophia’s Cathedral in Kyiv and St. George's Cathedral in Lviv.

The decree emphasized the importance of the holiday for the Ukrainian people as it’s a part of European civilization that should be honored at the proper level.
