The International Olympic Committee is going to approve the decision of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) at the summit in Lausanne. According to the decision, the Russia team was banned from participation in the Olympics.

According to the head of the IOC Thomas Bach, these sanctions are intended to punish both athletes caught in the use of forbidden drugs and doctors and officials who were involved in the violations.

This decision is just a recommendation, but the Russian federation of athletics is eager to file an appeal against it. Every athlete has the right to appeal.

The State Duma of the Russian Federation has traditionally linked sport and politics. The statement about the banning Russian athletes from participation has been dubbed as 'a political weapon from the dump of history' that violates the athletes’ rights and breaks the principles of the Olympic movement.

However, the State Duma hasn’t specified, if the principles of fair games were broken by the athletes who wanted to win using certain magical drugs.

But Thomas Bach says that Russian and Kenyan anti-doping agencies are the only organizations which don’t meet the level of the World Anti-Doping Agency. They should get resolutions in an individual order.
