According to German media, a new meeting of Normandy format can take place in Warsaw just before the NATO summit. Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France held similar talks last October.
A new meeting of Normandy format can take place in early July, before the NATO summit.
'We’d like to provide timely establishment of a new edition of the Minsk summit,' governmental circles explain. It comes to a quadripartite meeting that should be attended by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Russian President Vladimir Putin, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
A preliminary meeting with representatives of these four states was held last week. It would be ideal if the meeting took place before the NATO summit that will be held in Warsaw on July 8-9.
Normandy format is a diplomatic group of senior representatives of the four countries (Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France) to resolve the situation in the East of Ukraine. The Normandy format operates mainly through telephone calls between the Ukrainian, Russian and French presidents, the German chancellor and their respective ministers of foreign affairs.
The very last meeting of the leaders of Normandy format was held in Paris last October. Later, the heads of the states had joint talks on the phone.
