The head coach Mikhail Fomenko will resign following a disastrous performance of Ukrainian football team at Euro-2016. They have already found the most likely substitution for him. It will be a legendary Ukrainian footballer Andriy Shevchenko, who now acts as Fomenko’s assistant.
Andriy Shevchenko won the Golden Ball in 2004 and used to be a legendary striker in Dynamo, Milan and Chelsea. Now he’s to become a new head coach of the national team.
Mikhail Fomenko in his turn told the federation that he didn’t intend to prolong his contract with FFU, which expires after Euro-2016. However, this championship have been finished for Ukraine as the defeat from German national team and the shameful defeat from Northern Ireland made its last game against Poland just a formality.
In late 2015, Andriy Shevchenko became an assistant of the team’s current head Mikhail Fomenko. This Ukrainian favorite still has no coaching experience.
In case of signing a contract with Shevchenko, the national team will prepare for selection for the World Cup 2018, where we are to play against Kosovo, Finland, Iceland, Croatia and Turkey.
