Ukraine has been waiting for their return for 767 days.
President Petro Poroshenko: 'We can finally say: 'Yes! We did it'. And we will keep on working until the liberation of the last Ukrainian. We will continue for Oleksandr Kolchenko, Oleg Sentsov and other hostages held in the occupied territories and Russia to come back home.'
The President added that the return of Ukrainian prisoners from Russia had become possible due to the Minsk agreements and proved their efficiency.
Hennadiy Afanasyev addressed the international community with a call for continuation of the international sanctions against Russia. According to him, sanctions can help return other Ukrainian hostages.
Commissioner of the President on the Settlement of the Situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko: 'The hardest thing was when Yuriy and Hennadiy told that they hadn’t been allowed to meet with the Ukrainian consul for 10 months and had been told every day that Ukraine hadn’t been fighting for them while we knew that Ukrainian diplomats, Ukrainian Security Service and our President have been raising this issue at every international meeting'.
Iryna Gerashchenko added that Ukraine was now struggling for the liberation of at least 25 Ukrainians retained in Donbass.
'All keys to jails are kept in Kremlin. Thus, international solidarity is crucial for the issue of liberation of hostages to be the priority of the Normandy format,' she emphasized.
The two Ukrainians will undergo medical examination and receive medical care due to the health problems.
