Tuesday, June 07. KYIV — General of the Army of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko, Chief of General Staff, Armed Forces of Ukraine, held talks with Lieutenant General John G. Lorimer, Chief of Joint Operations, UK’s Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHO).
The parties discussed the further directions of military cooperation between Ukraine and the United Kingdom. Particularly, they considered the issues of courses for Ukrainian servicemen conducted by the UK instructors, provision of assistance in the context of development of the logistics of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, implementation of the UK experience in physical and psychological rehabilitation of servicemen.
General of the Army of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko thanked Lieutenant General John G. Lorimer for comprehensive support and assistance provided by the UK to Ukraine such as military-political, military, and material-technical.
John G. Lorimer pledged the senior leaders of the Ukrainian army in support and increase of resources for provision of assistance to the Ukrainian army. According to him, the UK party supports the Ukraine’s efforts aimed at defence of the state and its territorial integrity.
Relations between the United Kingdom and Ukraine are currently very close, there are regular bilateral visits between the countries and political dialogue covers the full range of international issues.
Since the beginning of the Ukrainian revolution and Pro-Russian unrest in Ukraine the United Kingdom has actively supported Ukraine and publicly condemned Russian actions. The UK supports Ukraine in becoming a member of the EU and NATO.
