A thieving monkey entered a jewellery shop in the pretext of reclaiming a fruit but managed to escape with a currency bundle worth Rs 10,000 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.

The incident was recorded by the shop’s CCTV cameras. The video was widely shared on social media on Sunday.

Once inside the shop, the monkey lost interest in reclaiming the fruit and advanced towards the cash drawers.

In the clipping, the seemingly innocent monkey could be seen entering the store in the pretext of entering a fruit, following which hysteria unfolded when the nefarious intentions…

The monkey began his delve into the criminal world by chucking a piece of fruit in the store as distraction.

Staff inside initially appeared confused, and the plucky primate soon gained entry.

The store's owner Ravi said: 'The monkey was sitting outside the shop and suddenly it came in and threw a guava inside.'

'We did not take it and threw it back but it entered the shop. We offered him food but he did not take any.'

'It first attacked the worker but he escaped. It sat for almost 20 minutes and then it opened the drawer at the counter and took away 10,000 rupees in cash.'
