The torrential rains which have fallen on France and Germany in recent days, resulted in severe floods.

Some regions haven’t faced this for more than a hundred years. Several people have already become the victims of the disaster.

Bad weather didn’t avoid Paris. The water level in the Seine rose more than 4 meters higher. As a result, barges and boats stopped their moving and all the embankments were flooded. There is no rain in the capital now, but the water keeps coming from all over the Seine flows. The tennis matches of Roland Garros had to be shifted due to the bad weather too.

Other regions of the country are facing worse situation. The streets of towns and villages, vast areas of farmland and 100 kilometers of highways from Paris to Orleans are under water now. The residents have been rescued by the army units. Rescuers found a body of an old woman in one of the houses in the city of Souppes-sur-Loing.

The south and south-west of Germany were seriously affected. The streets of its cities turned into rivers and streams of water carried cars and broken trees away. At least four people died.

About 7,000 rescuers are struggling against the bad weather in Bavaria. They are using special equipment, boats and helicopters. A state of emergency was declared in three Bavarian municipalities (Simbach am Inn, Triftern and Tann.)
