Representative of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) in the Trilateral Contact Group on Donbass Denis Pushylin says that theoretically there is a chance to agree local elections with Kyiv, according to Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
'Theoretically, there is a chance to agree local elections in Donbass with Kyiv, but it's too early to talk about the timing,' he said - reported by Unian.
Yet, Donetsk should hold primaries first, Pushylin added.
On May 23, leader of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko said that the 'republic' would conduct primaries to nominate candidates for local elections as it is stipulated in the Minsk agreements.
Note: A primary is an election in which people in a particular area vote to choose a candidate for a future important election.
The withdrawal of the occupation forces, the restoration of Ukrainian control over the state border and the deployment of an OSCE armed police mission along the contact line are key conditions for the elections in occupied Donbass.
As reported earlier by 1492news.com, People’s Deputy and military commander of Azov Battalion Andriy Biletsky said that Ukraine should build its own nuclear weapons.
