The OSCE has made its offers about the introduction of the police mission to provide safe elections in the Donbas, the OSCE’s spokesman said.
'The matter of safe local elections in eastern Ukraine is one of the most important subjects of discussion among the countries of the Normandy format. OSCE had made its offers and they are under consideration now,' he said.
On May 24, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had a night telephone conversation with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French and Russian leaders Francois Hollande and Vladimir Putin. They discussed the deployment of the OSCE police mission in the Donbas.
Press services of Ukrainian and Russian presidents revealed different data on the results of these negotiations. Poroshenko said that the Normandy format unanimously 'approved the deployment of the OSCE police mission in the Donbas'. Putin in his turn claimed that the matter concerned only increase of the current mission’s effectiveness.
As reported earlier, Switzerland sends humanitarian convoy to the east of Ukraine. Medicine, food, and other goods will be delivered to Donetsk by a lorries.
