US Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt described the victory of Ukrainian singer of Crimean Tatar origin Jamala in Eurovision-2016 as stunning and inspiring. He noted this during a speech at an investment conference in Kiev.
'I know that due to Jamala’s stunning and inspiring victory in Stockholm on Saturday, my words mean nothing for the Ukrainian colleagues who are here today,' Pyatt said.
The Ukrainian singer Jamala got the first place in the Grand Final of Eurovision-2016. The representative of Australia Dami Im got the second place and Russian singer Sergey Lazarev became the third.
Ukraine received 534 points - 211 ones from jury and 323 from viewers. Jamala performed at Eurovision-2016 with the song "1944" that revealed the fate of the Crimean Tatars.
