A working group of the European Council will consider a proposal of the European Commission to provide Ukraine with a visa-free regime.
On May 20, the matter of the visa-free regime for Ukraine will be considered at ministerial level.
'This is a preparatory meeting at the level of experts. It is expected that this matter will be discussed by the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER) next week,' the European Parliament noted.
On April 20, the European Commission sent its proposal to abolish visas for Ukraine to the European Parliament and the EU Council.
This proposal is the result of a positive assessment provided by the European Commission last December. In particular, this assessment confirmed that Ukraine had fulfilled all the criteria under the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization.
On April 26, Delegation to the EU-Ukraine Parliamentary Association Committee Head Andrej Plenković said that the European Parliament needs at least three months to finish all the necessary procedures related to the consideration of the proposals of the European Commission to provide Ukraine with the visa-free regime.
