Hungarian MFA impels the European Union to provide a visa-free regime for Ukraine within the shortest possible time.
Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister Peter Siarto made this statement on May 4 during his interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, after the meeting of Ministers of foreign affairs of the «Visegrad group» and the States of the Eastern partnership in Prague.
'Ukraine has to obtain the vise-free regime with the European Union immediately. When I say 'immediately' – I particularly mean it. I don’t mean it at the institutional level, but I mean what I say – immediately,' Siarto stated.
According to him, Ukraine and Georgia fulfilled all requirements, 'and, therefore, they should be granted visa-free regime as soon as possible.'
As it is known, on April 20, the European Commission offered the European Parliament and the Council of Europe to cancel visa obligations for Ukrainian citizens.
It was expected that Ukraine would obtain visa liberalization with the EU in the middle of summer, in autumn, or by the end of the year.
