Edward has been homeless in Tampa for several months and was desperate to get back to his family in Oklahoma. With the help of a local dentist, TPD, and others, he will get his wish.

Tampa Police Department shared on Facebook:

'He recently came to TPD and met with TPD Homeless Liaison Officer Randi Whitney, who observed his face to be so swollen that he could hardly talk. It was discovered that Edward had a broken and partially missing tooth that had gone untreated for almost two years.

Officer Whitney arranged for Edward to be seen by Dr. Ziad Abou-Assi and his staff, Ashley and Sue with the Erwin Dental Clinic. Edward received a strong course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories, then returned one week later and had his tooth surgically removed.

Thank you Dr. Assi! And to everyone else who teamed up to help Edward.

Thank you also to Suzanne from Catholic Charities and Ann Marie from Metropolitan Ministries for assisting Edward with the purchase of a bus ticket to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Metropolitan Ministries was also kind enough to provide some new clothing and food. Also, thank you to Charissa from The Well who gave Edward an opportunity clean up and shower before his two day trip.'

Anything can be accomplished when a community comes together. As he boarded his bus before sunrise, Edward was very grateful as he headed back to his family.
