President Petro Poroshenko had a phone conversation with President of the European Council Donald Tusk.
The President of the European Council confirmed EU’s solidarity with Ukraine and willingness to provide comprehensive support for our state in the issue of overcoming consequences of the Chornobyl disaster - reported by president.gov.ua.
'The EU remains the main donor in overcoming consequences of the tragedy, decommissioning of the NPP and revival of environment,' Donald Tusk said.
The Head of State expressed gratitude to the President of the European Council for additional contribution of the EU in the amount of EUR 20 million to the completion of construction of the spent-fuel storage. 'Ukraine is grateful for many years of assistance of the EU in the amount of EUR 730 million approximately,' the President noted.
The Head of State condemned the prohibition of the Mejlis and called it a criminal decision that should be blamed by the whole civilized world.
Petro Poroshenko and Donald Tusk also discussed terms of the introduction of the visa-free regime for Ukrainians by the EU and preparation of political dialogue at the highest level for the nearest future.
