Ukrainian TV channel112, citing Roman Bezsmertnyi, reported that the financing of elections in the occupied territories of Donbass, Ukraine, is not possible even with the help of resolutions related to security issues.
Roman Bezsmertnyi: "The Ukrainian side raised the issue that financing of elections in the occupied territories is impossible under the current circumstances, even with the help of resolutions related to security issues."
He believes that any funding in the occupied territories will mean the funding of illegal authorities.
Bezsmertnyi added: "The banking system is not working there. It is necessary to restore the regime of Ukrainian authorities, without it Ukraine just cannot fund the elections."
Earlier, the leaders of the self-proclaimed Lugansk People's Republic (LPR or LNR) and Donetsk People's Republic (DPR or DNR) synchronously rescheduled the elections in the occupied Ukrainian territories to July 24.
Roman Petrovych Bezsmertnyi is a Ukrainian politician, member of parliament for four terms since 1994 till 2007, deputy head of Ukrainian president's secretariat, and former Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus.
