The father was there with the baby, meticulously engaged in his son’s rehabilitation. According to Nowa Trybuna Opolska, a brain-dead Polish woman was kept alive for 55 days, so that she could give birth at Wroclaw University.

Doctors, in their turn, say this "miracle" has been made possible thanks to the modern medical equipment. The 41-year-old Polish woman was sick with brain cancer.

She was 17 weeks pregnant when the doctors pronounced a death of the brain. After that, physicians decided that they would fight for the child's life, because the woman's heart was still beating – repots Radiopolsha.

The doctors were able to maintain the mother's vital functions with the help of special medical equipment. After 55 days, neonatologists decided that the boy already had to be born and have carried out cesarean section.

The mother's life-support system was turned off hours after the birth.

The little survivor weighed only 1kg when he was born. A month later, the child was disconnected from the respirator and discharged home. After three months of intensive care, the boy now weighs 3 kilos.
