The first sequel of the film will be out at the end of 2018. According to Variety, the director, writer and producer James Cameron announced his plans to make four sequels, continuing the famous movie Avatar.
It is expected that "Avatar 2" will be released during the holiday season in 2018, and it will be followed by more sequels in 2020, 2022 and 2023.
James Cameron: "We have decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic project, making four epic films, each of which stands alone but together forms a complete saga."
Initially, Cameron planned only about two sequels, but after conversations with the writers and the world's leading designers, the director came to the conclusion that there is too much material for two movies.
The number of planned continuations has been increased to three and then to four movies.
