Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs describes the US Department of State’s calls to release Ukrainians as inappropriate.
The US Department of State’s calls to release Ukrainian prisoners Nadiya Savchenko and Oleg Sentsov are inappropriate. Moreover, such requests can be understood as intervention in Russia's affairs, Russian Foreign Ministry Commissioner for Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law Konstantin Dolgov states.
"Absolutely inappropriate and on the verge of intervention in our internal affairs are the US Department of State’s calls to release Oleg Sentsov, convicted of preparing terrorist attacks in the Crimea, and Ukrainian pointer Nadiya Savchenko, who was recognized guilty of serious crimes. Moreover, it is nothing more than an attempt to justify terrorism and murder of the journalists," Dolgov said.
He also added that the US authorities should "put off the glasses fogged with anti-Russian stereotypes, stop blackening the real status of human rights situation in Russia."
According to Korrespondent.net, Russia is ready to exchange Savchenko in case Ukraine acknowledges the reasonableness of the Russian court’s sentence in relation to the pilot.
