The British Foreign Office has hired a cat to catch mice inside the iconic building in Whitehall. According to DailyMail, the cat is apparently named after Viscount Palmerston, who was foreign secretary almost 200 years ago before twice serving as prime minister.
The diplomatic department emphasized that Palmerston's alimony will not affect the taxpayers.
According to British diplomats, the new chief mouser was found strolling around the streets of London. He was very hungry and thin.
Palmerston will be in good company in Whitehall, living just yards away from Larry, David Cameron's cat.
Larry Cameron is the 10 Downing Street cat and is Chief Mouser to the Cabinet Office. This meritorious moggie is a brown and white tabby, believed to have been born c. January 2007.
Larry is a rescue cat from the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, who was honored to be chosen by Downing Street staff.
