Two pilots died in the crash of a Russian military helicopter Mi-28N "Night Hunter". The incident is not the result of strike from the ground, the Defense Ministry reported. The crash happened near Homs at 01:29 Moscow time.
“Two members of the crew died. After the search-and-rescue works were over, the pilots’ bodies were evacuated and sent to the Hmeymim airbase. According to a report from the crash site, there was no fire impact on the helicopter,” the ministry says.
Thus, it is the second Russian military helicopter lost during the military operation in Syria. The first one was the Mi-8 that was destroyed by rebels while landing during its search-and-rescue operation after the Su-24 crash near Turkish border.
Earlier, the Defense Ministry revealed a video showing the Mi-28’s actions against terrorists’ positions in Syria.
Last summer, Night Hunter crashed during an airshow in Ryazan. One of the pilots died and the second one managed to get out of the burning vehicle.
