The scientists from Macalister College have calculated the most important character of the series "Game of Thrones". And it is..... The professor of Maths Andrew Beveridge and his apprentice Jie Shan decided to turn the world of the “Game of Thrones” books into a social network using network science, which tells about their study of the book by George Martin, "A Storm of Swords", which formed the basis for the third and fourth seasons of the series.
The researchers took into account such factors as: the number of characters, associated with a particular hero, the frequency of interaction between the characters and their status. And three characters stood out among the others: Tyrion Lannister, Jon Snow, and Sansa Stark.
"As the right hand of the King, Tyrion erupts in the center of the political machinations of the capital. Our analysis suggests that he is the most important character", Beveridge noticed.
Tyrion Lannister (also referred to as "the Imp" or "the Halfman") is a fictional character in “A Song of Ice and Fire” series of fantasy novels written by American author George R. R. Martin, and its television adaptation “Game of Thrones”. Based on an idea that came to Martin while writing the 1981 novel “Windhaven”, Tyrion has been called one of the author's finest creations and most popular characters by “The New York Times”. Martin has named the character as his favorite in the series.
“Game of Thrones” is an action role-playing video game based on ”A Game of Thrones”, the first of the “Song of Ice and Fire” novels by George R. R. Martin, and also in part on the novels of TV adaptation by HBO, “Game of Thrones”.
