French police has questioned a 40-year-old Jew, who put on jihadi clothes and attacked one of the synagogues in Paris, shouting "Allahu Akbar!", French newspaper Le Figaro writes.
According to the article, Jews were celebrating Purim last Thursday when the man dressed in a Moroccan djellaba with a Kalashnikov gun broke into Chabad-Lubavitch synagogue in the capital's suburb of Vincennes and scared the guards.
He was detained by police and then released without charge.
"I’d like to cheer the people, but it seems like I have made a big mistake. There is a common tradition to drink and have a jolly time during Purim. I have an Arabian suit and a Kalashnikov gun. When entering the synagogue I told the guards that it was a masquerade, and they were laughing at this joke with me," he said in an interview to another newspaper.
The incident took place two days after the bloody terrorist attacks in Brussels, which left 35 people dead and more than 300 injured. Moreover, a week after, three Israelis were killed during an attack on a group of tourists in Istanbul.
