Leonardo DiCaprio finally became an Oscar winner for the best man’s role in ‘The Revenant’ movie, after six nominations during his career.
He was named best actor at the Oscars 2016 along with Brie Larson, who became best actress.
“The Revenant was a product of tireless efforts of an unbelievable cast and crew I got to work alongside,” — DiCaprio stated at the ceremony.
He also accented on the global warming problem, reminding that 2015 was the hottest year in the whole modern history. The actor told about the problem of climate change in relation to the movie production: the whole crew had to go to Canada to find some ‘disappearing’ snow.
“Climate change is happening right now! It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species,” — DiCaprio said.
He called to endorse leaders of countries who contribute to the reduction of the amount of pollution and think about the future of our planet. He also thanked everybody who supported him in his hard way towards achievement of the gold statuette.
DiCaprio began his fight for this award in 1993 as a 19-year-old boy, and was nominated in 2005, 2007 and 2014. In 2016, he has finally obtained his first Oscar.
